Your security is important. Be aware of fraudulent attempts where individuals impersonate trusted organisations through unofficial channels to mislead customers into applying for banking facilities or sharing personal and financial information.

What are the red flags to watch out for?

  • Unsolicited messages offering loans or Credit cards
  • Requests for personal or financial information via social media, WhatsApp or unofficial websites
  • Use of fake bank branding or unauthorised staff names
  • Pressure tactics or urgent calls to act immediately

How to verify genuine bank communication?

  • Banks will never ask for sensitive information via social media or messaging apps
  • Ensure emails are sent from official bank domains (e.g., @bankname.com)
  • Use your bank’s Mobile Banking App or visit your nearest branch for secure services
  • Contact your bank through its official helpline to verify any communication

Security tips

  • Do not share your Emirates ID, account details or OTPs with anyone
  • Avoid clicking on suspicious links or downloading unknown attachments
  • Be cautious of offers that sound too good to be true

Stay Safe online with authentic websites

If you are unsure about the authenticity of a website, you can visit the UAE Government’s Stay Safe platform: Stay Safe Website URL https://staysafe.csc.gov.ae/home.

Simply copy and paste any website link you are unsure of into StaySafe. It will check multiple sources to determine whether the site is a scam, phishing attempt, or a legitimate website.

Please note these sources are not complete or error-free, as new types of phishing attempts and well-hidden scams may not be identifiable.

StaySafe is one of many tools and checks available, and additional measures should always be taken to verify the authenticity of a website.
